One of the most inspiring and influential names in hairdressing, Anestis Cobella’s creative vision and proactive approach to styling constantly pushes the barriers of innovation.
Anestis Cobella’s career was launched when he was appointed Seminar Director for a top UK Salon in 1977, this allowed him to travel the world teaching techniques to fellow hairdressers. In 1979 Anestis published the best selling book Cobella - Hair Avant-garde. The work was an immediate success and gained him fame and respect from the Hairdressing industry.
Anestis opened his first salon in Mayfair in 1980, and just two years later set up a second salon. However, far from settling down with two successful London salons, Anestis decided to tour the world, teaching and demonstrating his skills to a global audience. Winning London Stylist of the Year in 1987 & 1988, and being voted British Hairdresser of the year in Japan and France were a few of the highlights.
In 1997 Anestis opened a third salon, The Club, at County Hall and 1999 saw the opening of Cobella Akqa – the UK’s first oxygen themed Day Spa Salon. This was the result of creative vision for the future of ‘the salon’, intensive research and expertise, and is still seen as a major contribution to British Hairdressing.
2002 Anestis Cobella undertook a new venture; The World Hairdressing Congress. The international hair styling event of the last 25 years underwent an important transformation under his ownership. The new Congress has become one of the most influential and inspiring events in global hairdressing.
After a year of development, Anestis opened Cobella at Selfridges in June 2004. The salon boasts a host of specialist services and first ever hairdressing innovations and lives up to Cobella’s renowned reputation of offering creative and forward thinking concepts to the industry and fulfilling Anestis’ philosophy to offer beautiful, sexy, wearable hair, to every client who walks through the door.
