My name is Michael Saunders. I am a traditional artist at heart and a Photoshop expert by day. I have always expressed interest in, and excelled at, creating compelling visual art. Since I can remember anything, I've always been drawing, painting, or otherwise creating something. This raw talent was cultivated with years of directed teaching, self taught techniques, mentorship, apprenticeships, and professional experience.

I am currently a photo retoucher and photo compositor at a prominent stock photo studio where I handle all of the heavily conceptual composite jobs on site. Over the past five years, many challenging projects have helped push my expertise in photoshop to the next creative level. I am also the second shooter, first assistant to the photographer, lighting technician and studio manager. These different responsibilities have given me a broad and intricate understanding of all aspects of digital photography; from the camera system, to lighting, to digital capture and asset management work flows, and ultimately the entire post production process, focusing on retouching and compositing. This knowledge helps me produce creative compositing projects that are compelling and effective.

My digital skills with photoshop are directly attributed to my traditional fine art background. I graduated Cum Laude from the Savannah College of Art and Design in May, 2004, where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts. I majored in Illustration and minored in Drawing. Throughout my time there, my drawing skills were perfected along with the use of the computer and Photoshop as part of my creative process. I love to create photo-realistic drawings of people and situations. This attention to detail has perfectly transitioned into creating composite images, and solving photographic visual challenges effectively. I am always looking forward for the next creative project, and oh yea, zombies!
