About Me

I am a traditionally trained Figure Artist, working in oil, charcoal, graphite and ink. I host figure drawing groups weekly for a small group of artists, 3 hour sessions for drawing and 6 hours or more for painting. It's hard to find professional artists' models here (it was a lot easier when I lived in San Francisco), but I will work with inexperienced models in the right circumstances.

I have been working from the live model for over 20 years, received my BFA and MA in Painting from Cal State Fullerton. I teach drawing and anatomy, traditional oil painting, and drawing both privately and for colleges. My believe is that an artist must work from life as much as possible to keep and constantly improve on figurative skills. I use models for major paintings as well but the 3 to 6 hour figure sessions is what I need models for most of the time.

Interested models can contact me via email - [email protected]. I pay an hourly rate that is considered typical for the area (Capital District, upstate NY). Special projects are negotiated on an individual basis.

I have only two requirements of models - that they be reasonably fit and they can hold interesting and dynamic poses (short gesture) or hold very still (long poses). "Fitness" covers a large range - mainly healthy looking even if "full figured".
