About Me

I am 25 years old, I grew up in a designers world, as my mother has a well established design firm. I knew I wanted in the industry somehow... I am a good graphic designer, but that didn't cut it for me. I knew there was something else for me besides that. So I picked up photography and absolutely fell in love. My first camera was a Nikon N80 (Nikon 35mm SLR - not digital). At first there was no glamor shots, nothing seemed to turn out how I wanted - so when professional photographers would come around my mothers design firm I would immediately start quizzing them, asking them how they got specific shots, what cameras, lenses, lights they used and why they used them, what shutter speed, film speed (ISO), what aperture they were using for that shot, and I learned an immense amount of knowledge... but I still was getting not-so-amazing shots, until one day a photographer walked in with a digital SLR and I was in amazement, at that time digital SLR's were unheard of, and ridiculously expensive (I was 16 at the time). Reluctantly the photographer let me use it, but when I did, it made all of the difference in the world. Now I get instant feedback - oh that shot sucked, lets try something different - and finally I got to actually experiment without having to wait for a roll to get developed and forgetting what I did for each shot. So then I decided I had to save to buy an DSLR - a couple years went by and DSLR prices dropped an extreme amount. So I got my first DSLR, it was a Nikon D40x - not the best in the world, but I learned so much from that camera. Nowadays I shoot with 3 cameras (Nikon D90, Canon T1i or 5D Mark II) depending on the event and I can get any shot that I can dream up, now it up to mine and the models creativity.
