About Me

Brent was born and raised in Montana. He discovered photography at the age of 15 when his dad took a college photography class. On a few occasions he would go into the dark room and watch as his dad printed black and white photos. He bought his first camera at the age of 16 and went everywhere with it. When he graduated from high school and started college he had no idea what he wanted to do.

He started taking any class he thought sounded fun, trying to figure out what to major in. After a year of accomplishing nothing and changing his major many times, he realized that he had taken more art classes than anything else. As he focused, he realized that he loved the realism that only photography can offer, but he looked at it as a hobby not a potential career or a major. He took every photography class the college had to offer, some more than once.

Spring of 2008 Brent embarked on a journey to Asia that changed his life forever. Brent lived through the lens of a camera, and came home from Asia with well over 6,000 photos. Brent realized that he wanted to spend the rest of his life behind a lens. He made as many contacts as possible, taking up apprenticeships with a few prominent photographers around the valley, just trying to get a foot in the door and gain some experience on pro photo shoots.

He started collecting antique medium format cameras and restoring them to working condition. The joy he felt shooting a camera that was older than he was thrilled him. He really likes shooting with 120mm film cameras, and 4x5 cameras. He's currently restoring an 8x10 studio camera.

Brent Got his big break in the late spring of 2008. Brent was helping Jenny Steven (one of his prominent photographer he worked with) on a cover shoot, when a woman he did not know asked him if he had any of his personal work with him. He showed her a rough portfolio, and not three pictures into it the woman introduced herself as the editor of 406 Woman magazine, and offered him a job as an intern, which he gladly accepted. He did four photoshoots and knew this was how he wanted to spend the rest of his life. After the Internship he was offered a job as the staff photographer for 406 Woman Magazine.

His favorite photoshoots involve going into Glacier park with friends and family, shooting pictures of the scenery, people, and if he's lucky that day wildlife.

He currently does as many as four photo shoots a week. He edits all his own digital photos, spends hours in the darkroom developing film from his antique cameras and printing them himself.

And yes Tara, I realize I wrote my bio in the third person, why? Because I can.
