Estiaan was born in Pretoria, South Africa. He has always shown a great talent for art, coming from a creative family background. After being accepted into Nelson Mandela Universities’ Art Department, Estiaan started showing a great interest in photography and finished his National Diploma in Photography.

One of the projects during his course at the university included a week long documentary on life in Missionvale Township just outside Port Elizabeth. It was here were his love for documentary photography and portraiture started and he is now specializing in this genre of photography.

Estiaan also shows a great eye for fashion photography and has won the award for best photographic interpretation at the fashion collective show hosted every year by The Nelson metropolitan university.
