About Me

Ross Richardson loves cinematography. His passion comes from not only the blend of the technical and artistic aspects of filmmaking, but also from the collaboration with the director. After graduating from USC , Ross began working as a gaffer in commercials and music videos, working with legendary cinematographers such as Conrad Hall, Vittorio Storaro, and Allen Daviau. Ross quickly made his transition into cinematography and has since become a renowned cinematographer in both the U.S. and abroad. In the ever-expanding world of the visual medium, he is known for his innovative technical expertise and is well versed in both film and digital formats. Ross has worked on scores of award-winning commercials and music videos and has been recognized with several best cinematography nominations and awards, including winning Best Cinematography at the International Festival of Cinema in Toronto. He has photographed more than two hundred music videos for such artists as Michael Jackson, Metallica, and Elton John. Ross has also worked on countless commercials for such clients as Givenchy, Armani, L'Oréal, Estée Lauder, and most recently a campaign for Yves Saint Laurent. Ross has collaborated on commercial projects with directors such as Floria Sigismondi, Anders Hallberg, and Joseph Kahn as well as famed photographers Mert & Marcus, Mikael Jansson and David Sims. In addition to the several short films and four feature-length films Ross has lensed, he has also collaborated several times with fine artist Alex Prager. Their three-channel video installation, Face in the Crowd, is part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. When Ross is not on set, he can be found doing his other passion, street photography.
