Susan Bennett Lopez is a Nashville based New York artist and writer. As a long time film industry professional, she spent 8 years working in the film, video and animation department at the School of Visual Arts in NYC and went on to become the Vice President of Business Development for NYCastings before moving to Nashville in 2008. She is fascinated with and frequently paints the images of America through the tormented, often eerie characters who dwell on the outskirts of mainstream society. If her miniature sculptures illustrate the mask behind the mask of her subjects, her latest mixed media series shows the outer veil of each. Known best for working in terra cotta, polymers and experimental mixed media, she spins a world that conjures not only distant jazz, but the dawn just after the whisky nights of America's broken and bedeviled.

Her work has shown in galleries in New York City, Los Angeles, New Jersey, Massachusetts, South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee and she is a regular art contributor for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation annual charity auction.
