About Me

- UPDATE -

Wow, I never even thought about retouching (hah even after mentioning it below)! When I joined I just figured that I could find lots of beautiful subjects for paintings, but reading the forum there seems to be a whole cottage industry for retouching photos here..

I can definitely do that (certainly a lot quicker than painting a full portrait!) and if you need someone "retouched" into a mermaid or wood nymph or angel, you've found your retoucher! =)

- END UPDATE -

While there are certainly many professionals here, hopefully there's also room for enthusiastic hobbyists like myself! Though I only listed "Art" as my genre, I can of course paint subjects in any context so if you have a proposal, let me know!

I would like to clarify that my paintings, whether digital or traditional media, are all done from scratch (though usually from looking at source photos) and are not based off of tracings or otherwise integrating source photos. None of my current works (shown on my portfolio - I've been experimenting with retouches in some forums) are retouches in any way and if I do one in the future I will clearly indicate that it is and the source photo it was derived from.

Most of my photos here are actually taken from my DeviantArt page, where you can find many more digital paintings (that are in progress), and I have a few more still in the oven which will be posted soon.. While I've only done digital artwork lately, years ago my portraiture was produced exclusively with pastels (as you can see in two of my example pictures, check out my DA page for more!).

I am in no way a professional artist, but rather someone who enjoys painting portraits in their spare time.. While I have in the (distant) past and am capable of painting to professional levels, I generally try to do this as stress relief and commissioned portraits tend to be very stressful =/..

But hey, if you're in a bind and need a portrait painted, feel free to give me a buzz!

However, regardless of whether any sort of financial arrangements are made on either side, I thought that there might be some interest here by models in getting portraits painted and I certainly would welcome the opportunity to paint such stunning subjects, so maybe both of us could happily walk away with something special and unique for our portfolios!

If someone would like to talk, whether about an idea for a painting, a potential commission, or even to discuss techniques or ask questions about how to paint portraits, feel free to send me a message here or on DA and I'll pass along my email address (apparently putting it on our profiles here isn't a very good idea).

Hope you're all having a great day!
Jack
