About Me

Hello, my name is Jennifer Ma and I am an up incoming Fashion Designer. I have a B.A. in Design with an emphasis in Fashion as well as a B.A. in Chinese from the University of California, Davis. During my college years, I learned many aspects of fashion design; ranging from pattern making, draping, fabric dyes, silk screening, CA, etc.

The highlight of my college career was my senior collection named "hybrid skin". My collection won an award at the Undergraduate Research Conference at UCD. The collection consisted of 6 garments; 3 men 3 women. Hybrid skin is a hyperbole of how clothing has become a new form of skin. All the garments were self dyed; most of the dyes I used was discharge, gold leaf, and fiber reactive dyes.

I have included some of my other school projects which is the comic book dress, which is made from many different old comic books interfaced together with a glaze finish, and the mimaki print romper in which the fabric was made by distorting a picture I had taken.
