I've been a professional free lancer since my graduation from Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2006. My degree is in comic illustration however my interests have drifted towards illustration such as book covers, posters etc. I've been "rebuilding" my portfolio for about a year, working on refining my process and have been experimenting with color quite heavily compared to other stages of my artistic journey. My goals include getting some more high profile gigs. I'd really like too work for a few toy and comic companies out there.
About my process:
I generally use multiple photographs to inspire me toward a particular pose of the subject(s) in the piece. Initially everything is drawn, as the photo(s) serve only as reference and are never themselves integrated into the piece. Most of the work is done outside of the computer until the coloring stage is reached. This process differs slightly when working in backgrounds (trees city scapes etc) because then I will occasionally alter a photograph and integrate it into the work.
