About Me

My father bought himself a Yashica FXD SLR. At the beginning, I wasn't allowed to press the shutter but I could switch it on, take light readings and pretend to photograph people and things. Fortunately, when a roll of film would go to the lab, the camera was left unloaded for a while, during which time I could take as many pictures as I wished. Those were my first photographs, and I could not care less about not having film. I guess that's what Cartier Bresson meant by "hunters aren't cooks".
Eventually as I grew up, I would work and buy my own film. I was responsible just enough to borrow the camera, go out and about and bring it back safely.
Things happened and in 1993 I moved to England and photography took a turn for the better. Film was cheap, processing was accessible and cameras were affordable. I did a few courses and workshops, learned processing and developing and started making my own prints. Soon after that, I went on to study photography at the City of Westminster College in London where I learned about film types and lighting techniques and camera works. The technical and theoretical aspects were not more important than the close contact and experiences shared by fellow students and professionals of the industry.
As far back as I can remember, I have liked photography. From the first time I held on to that camera I was hooked. Taking pictures has always been an important event. It comes with a sense of duty, as if there were not other chance to photograph that subject in that circumstance ever again, as in fact there isn't.
At the momment, I live in Florianopolis-SC Brazil. I'm looking for people to photograph so I guess that's why I'm here. Anybody is welcome, if you live in Florianopolis or just passing by please do get in touch. email me so we can talk.
