‘Strong-willed’ and ‘free-spirited’, words to best describe Dorien Grötzinger and her artworks. At the age of four Dorien already decided that she wanted to make the world not only a better, but nevertheless a more beautiful place, by making and doing beautiful things.
Walking on through the streets all over the world it is not unlikely for her to get lost, as her mind wanders off in all the inspiration she finds around her in all aspect and layers of society. Fascinated by ‘the darker side’ of society Dorien came to her first photography series for the exhibition ‘erotism’ in the Art District Gallery.
In 2008 Dorien founded ‘Stichting Bink’ together with Bram Verhappen, a charity foundation that believes every child has the right to a good future. Every year ‘Stichting Bink’ adds a local initiative in a non-western country to their support list. Faith decided for her to discover her talent and passion for creating mixed-media art whilst working for this foundation. During the organization of the annual art auction she got inspired by the photos she took of Brazilian orphans and turned this into a magnificent series of artworks to put up for sale. It was not until the actual auction, Dorien realized that her art was highly appreciated by the audience, as they enthusiastically outbid each other took her work home.
Looking back Dorien believes that life itself was her most valuable education. She combined all the knowledge and skills she collected on her path and gave it her own personal touch. Indecisive to where her true passion lies, determined to not miss out on any fun and as she ‘liked almost everything that involved creativity’, Dorien attended many courses and trainings.
Dorien strongly feels that her first series are just the beginning of an amazing journey through her own creativity and inspiration.






After making a jump start as Line Producer in the Dutch television scene, Dorien started to develop interest in the art of directing. Consistant with her curious nature, she started to grow and learn until the urge for a new challenge grew in her again. This is where she made her first steps into the world of photography.
