Hello and thank you for taking an interest in my profile.

My name is Sophie and I am training to become a NVQ level 3 qualified make-up artist. The course I study is called “specialist hair and media make-up”. This course covers- Special effects, media make-up, bridal make-up using an airbrush, editorial make-up, photographic make-up, applying bald caps, applying prosthetic pieces and wigs, spray tans, individual eyelash extensions (lash perfect), body paint & art, hair up and dressing hair. I also have a VRQ level2 qualification in Women’s Hairdressing so I can do some hair styling although I do prefer the make-up artist industry much more.

I would like to gain work experience shadowing a professional make-up artist in any sector of the industry. I would also love to gain work experience helping models, photographers, other hair stylists and make-up artists and retouchers, etc to build a good portfolio.

I don’t have that much work experience yet however, I have done charity’s such as ‘look good feel better’ this is a cancer charity where you demonstrate and apply make-up on women suffering from cancer. I have also helped out at Wigan Little Theatre doing the make-up off the characters from the Charles Dickens production. I work for a well-established company “Estee Lauder” so I am qualified at their level. I have also done close family and friend’s hair and make-up for weddings. I also work in Selfridges & Co on ladies designer wear so I have a keen eye for fashion and I also know the latest fashion looks and very up to date in the styling industry.

My kit is all excellent brands such as MAC, Bobbie Brown, Estee Lauder, DIOR and also Illamasqua.
