In the past few years having a camera has become so prevalent that it's easy to forget that photography can be just as much of an art as painting or dancing. On the other hand, photography has been around long enough to become an elderly, boring, and redundant medium. Going to art galleries often feels like listening to an old man tell the same story over and over again. "Sonny, did I ever tell you the story about the girl who took her shirt off?"

Fortunately one of the great things about art is that it doesn't have to be bound by the rules of convention. I take a lot of my inspiration from the 1900s - 1960s, when the technology was good enough to create beautiful pictures but the rules hadn't been solidified yet.

I often try to take pictures of the moment. Also, I try to have a lot of fun with photography. What's the point in doing something like this if you're not having fun? And besides, photos come out so much better when both the model and I are having fun.

Lastly, I'm totally an amateur. I have no aspirations to make money with it or do anything else with it professionally. I just really like making art.
