All my life, I have loved to create. For the majority of my life, it has been music. Mom started me on piano at age 2, violin at age 8 and guitar at age 10 and you could always find me singing and playing on some stage somewhere. Somewhere in the past couple of years, however, I got my hands on a camera and that was the beginning of the rabbit hole.

Dad always had an eye for photography. In my parents' house, to this day, are thousands of packets of pictures from all the rolls of film he developed over the years. I was blessed to have a family that liked to travel and I have seen 42 states from the back of a minivan. My dad always had a camera hanging around his neck and there are pictures of the fam in front of everything from the coastline of Maine to the San Diego Zoo. He always looked like the typical tourist and we constantly poked fun at him, as children often do of their parents.

But I couldn't know then how thankful I would be of those experiences now. For all the things that I got from my dad, the one for which I am most appreciative currently in my life, is the photographer's eye. His gift to me has enriched my life in ways I couldn't have imagined.

Over the past couple of years, I have been shooting everything I got the opportunity to shoot--lots of wedding and family stuff, landscapes, architectural, special events....but the one area that I am lacking in my port is some decent fashion type stuff with good models. I have shot some stuff for a lingerie designer friend of mine a while back, but I feel like my skill has improved so much since then, and I really want to try to do more fashion stuff for my portfolio to build it out. Gaining experience in this area is why I joined Model Mayhem. I am currently trying to build up a little studio at home, but most of my stuff up til now has been outdoor shoots.
