Hello. My name is Jessica Venenati, and I'm an artist from Colorado Springs, CO. I joined Model Mayhem because I thought it could help get my art out there. I figured that I would at least get some good critiques! I love playing with different mediums for my art as much as I love modeling for other artists. I've been doing art since I could smear paints, and it has been a constant drive for me. In the last few years I have met so many amazing artists and have cleaned up some techniques while I am just now learning others. I would like to live off of my art- what artist wouldn't? It means a lot to me to be able to love what I do when I wake up. Right now, I am building my portfolio for modeling, makeup art, and fine art. Mediums I use regularly are: Oil paint, acrylic paint, charcoal, oil pastel, graphite, chalk pastel, ink, makeup, and body paint. I started doing decorative wood-burning and had quite a lot of fun with it, so I'm going to be making pipe boxes and wands for small businesses in Colorado Springs. I like detailed artwork and I'm always working on my technique.
I do special effects makeup for theme parties- Most recently, I was the caterpillar at an Alice In Wonderland party in February 2013. I love the works of Tim Burton and his ability to conjure something strange. I think too much focus goes to darker colors when people think of macabre artwork or the unique. The poisonous plants and animals are the brightest. I can't list all of the artists and works that inspire me, even in the natural world, because there are too many. What I can say for my art is this: Pigments are my playground.
I am willing to do custom work, but my prices depend on the project. I really do appreciate all criticism because sometimes I focus on something the viewer does not, and it's always nice to get an idea of what others see when they look at my work.
