I've been shooting people, things and places for over 20 years. In my experience, people are the most challenging. With architecture and landscapes, you simply need to find the right angle and lighting; then shoot. When photographing people you must consider the same, but add things like face expression, makeup (where applicable), position, and other fluid aesthetics. Getting all of those factors just right is not easy.

Finally, it is the responsibility of the photographer to make sure his/her subject looks great and conveys the intended artistic message. All to often I have seen experienced photographers post unflattering shots of their subjects. This unfortunate and certainly not something I do. If after a shoot I can't find one shot that can be considered flattering to the subject and conveys my vision, then none will be posted anywhere (and proofs will likely be deleted).

Photography is about capturing the right image. Some days you win, some days you don't win.
