About Me

Jason was born in the historic city of Bulawayo in Zimbabwe. Growing up on a farm and spending time with old African folk for most of his life it gave him an insight into many cultural backgrounds, along with knowledge and passion of the surrounding areas and wilderness.

During his high school years, Jason attended an old, military-type boarding school; Plumtree, which is based near the borders of Botswana/Zimbabwe. His love for the bush grew by spending time bird watching, hunting, camping and exploring the surrounding areas whilst fishing amongst other sports. After completing his Cambridge studies, Jason went straight into the safari industry and started working as a trainee safari guide, with Touch the Wild in the Gwayi Valley on the outer perimeters of Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. As well as working under Lionel Reynolds, Jason also spent time white-water rafting on the Zambezi River.

Jason went on to join Wilderness Safaris and worked as a guide in various National Parks all over Southern Africa including Hwange, Kalahari, Savuti and Moremi. He also hunted extensively on behalf of National Parks and other safari companies, particularly controlling problem animals causing devastation within the local communities. In 1999 he was awarded his full Professional Guides Licence.

Jason has travelled extensively in Africa and is a very keen photographer, having some of his pictures published in well known travel and outdoor magazines such as Getaway. His speciality was in tailor made safaris, and guiding small select groups and families through Africa’s most remote places. Whether it be Botswana’s Famous national parks, Namibia’s Skeleton coast, or down the Wild Zambezi on a walking and canoeing safaris. Jason's passion and excitement for Africa's bush and its wild life is contagious and rubs off on all that travel with him in search of an authentic African experience.

As well as photographing the wilds of Africa, Jason also started to photograph domestic animals. Again, his understanding of animals always allows him to capture the character of the individual animal.
The next progression was on to people; photographing weddings, christenings and other family events. This is an area Jason is now developing further.
His relocation to the UK has allowed further development in event photography. He has attended the Red Bull Empire of Dirt 2012 and the Royal Windsor Horse Show this year and hopes to do more large events.
As you browse through the different albums, I'm sure you will see that whatever Jason is photographing, his passion and style always shines through.
