JD Leung is a Vancouver-based photographer and designer with a keen interest in fashion/editoria photography. She is a recent graduate from the University of Toronto with an Hons. BA in Visual Arts, Art History and English.

Infatuated with pictures all her life – stemming from a background in traditional painting and drawing – her first experience with photography occurred during her last year of high school when she spent nearly all of her time in the dark room experimenting with black and white photography on her Nikon F65.

Simplicity, narrative, strategic use of geometry + colour, styling and a touch of odd/surreal/whimsy are some of the ingredients she aims to use in her photography. Her interest in story-telling and film are deeply embedded into her photographs; each one is a still from a story. She works with both digital and film photography, both colour and b/w, and is interested in collaborating with other photographers and models to create wonderful images.

Some of her influences and inspirations: Tim Walker, Hedi Slimane, Solve Sundsbo, Miles Aldridge, Andre Kertesz, Vivian Maier, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Richard Avedon.
