About Me

Tallie Adair Designs first began working as a costume designer while in high school and moved onto study fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco. Tallie moved to Maui, Hawaii for eight years, worked at a Canvas and Sail shop as the assistant designer/ industrial seamstress. she also worked as assistant manager at a youth hostel for most of that time. The life style there, gave Tallie diverse inspiration meeting hundreds of people with so many different kinds of style from all around the world. She could have seen as much fashion by traveling to all the places where the back packers were from. Tallie experienced a resort life style spending a lot of time on the beaches of Kaanapali where tourist's dressed up for the beach. She fell in love with luxurious silks and began hand painting them and making butterfly wings and designed island wear with the wings as inspiration. Canvas and Sail gave heavy industrial sewing experience which is evident in the costume corsetry, mascot costumes, and accessories. Currently Tallie is working at Closet Capers as a costume designer/stylist in her hometown of Santa Cruz, designing costumes, styling, and ward-robing for plays.
