My name is John Anderson. I'm the owner of Ragdoll Studio LLC based out of Antrim NH. I specialize in 3D digital art and animation primarily focused on the medical, legal and forensic markets. It's important for me to be able to use live models in my work on occasion and to continue building our skills through life drawing.

The work I'm posting here is 3D generated art using 3D modeling and digital sculpting. I have included two realistic human models plus a reference image using one of our live models. I have also included a fantasy goblin model to show how human reference is used for inspiration in 3D artwork.

The process of 3D content generation is complicated. In many cases, the model will never be seen in the final production. Many of you may have never heard of Andy Serkis, however he is an extremely accomplished actor in Hollywood, having had roles in The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit films, King Kong, Planet of the Apes and most recently in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. You'll never actually find Andy Serkis in any of these films though as he provides motion capture animation for completely digital characters.

In my work, models provide the basis and foundation for most of my 3D content creation. I use reference models to create characters or stage poses for digital characters. Even stylized or fantastical characters need to have a basis in reality.
