Hi I'm Brandon Schaefer, an artist in Davis, CA. I have been drawing since I was about 5 years old, and I became seriously interested in painting when I was in college. My main focus is oil painting but I do draw in my sketchbook and sometimes do photography to use as references for my paintings.

One of my goals is to increase the quality of my portrait paintings, since I've mainly focused on landscapes in the past. I'd like to paint portraits from life and eventually do an entire series of paintings featuring portraits and fully-clothed figures in a natural / forested setting or environment.

My hope with Model Mayhem is to find local models willing to sit for me for a painting session [1-3 hours] as I paint their portrait, and / or to do a photo-shoot in a natural environment for me to use as references for my paintings. My concept is to basically connect my love for landscapes with my interest in portraits and figures. Reconnecting with Mother Nature in some sense.

Its a bit hard for me to describe the particular style I want for these paintings but I'm quite open to a lot of different possibilities. I'm not picky about skin or hair color or anything like that. As far as clothes, solid colors would probably be best and nothing too bright. More earthy reds, browns, greens, etc.. blue is fine too as well as white. Basically if you search "women in forest" on pinterest or similar phrases, you will discover some of the looks or concepts I'm going for. This can also be discussed further at a later time.

I currently have a day job [working from home as a graphic designer/illustrator], so usually evenings or weekends would be best for me but I can possibly be flexible in my schedule depending upon what project I'm working on that week.
