Energetic and vividly colorful, his works are inspired by the simple and natural movement of the human form. Creating with energetic rhythm, using such medium as recycled latex house paint, GENE's gestural images describe not only the motion of the body, but also the movement of intangible things: wind and atmosphere, energy and music. His knowledge of ancient calligraphy and traditional animation is apparent in the fluid line-work and ephemeral nature of his images. Working intuitively and spontaneously, GENE allows the painting to form itself as he seeks to portray the "human spirit at play." He has shown in art galleries from California to New York, in both solo and select group shows.

"I am intrigued enough by the female species of the planet to realize that I will hardly, if ever, understand their awesome existence. With every painted feminine figure, the more questions, possibilities and inquiry seem to be born. Most of the female figures are worked with models (YES, I do hire and work with live models!), and as such, much of their energy is as much a part of the pieces themselves as the paint and metal. Likewise, in working with models, I find strength in the feminine humanity that is un-explainable in its nature. Power, courage, wisdom, compassion and sensuality become less theoretical and more present with my soul and spirit of my work."
