About Me

Jeffrey Wiener was born in Miami, Florida in 1961, and graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Art in 1983. He began exhibiting his surreal drawings and paintings at 16 in Miami’s street fairs, and after moving to New York in 1988 began showing in the galleries of New York/SoHo and the broader northeast. A painter of dramatic narrative scenes as well as an obsessively detailed pencil draftsman, Jeffrey Wiener was heavily influenced by the artists of the Renaissance and the 20th Century narrative artists such as Thomas Hart Benton, Paul Cadmus, and MC Escher.

Jeffrey achieved broad professional success in New York over the last 30 years with his illustrations and designs commissioned by the likes of New York Times, Scholastic, Disney, and a host of commercial clients. In addition to producing websites, videos, animations and interactive games through his design consultancy Dangerous Media (https://dangerousmedia.com), Jeffrey Wiener is also the publisher of The Great Nude (https://TheGreatNude.tv), an arts magazine featuring figurative artists, now celebrating 12 years of publishing. Jeffrey still paints with traditional mediums but continues to pioneer with digital art-making tools, and exhibits his growing collection of iPad artworks online at https://jeffreywiener.gallery.
