Hi everyone!

I'm a 'semi early' retired Post Graduate Photographic Artist.

I'm professionally qualified and experienced and hold both Bachelors and Masters Degrees in art and photography, awarded by fully accredited UK universities and peer reviewed by UK/US academics.

I've also been awarded the distinctions of Associate of the Royal Photographic Society and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. My Credentials are..

My work has been extensively exhibited and published throughout the UK and the US and to a lesser extent East Asia.

Needless to say I take both all art and photography very seriously, and sometimes not very seriously at all!

I'm a contemporary artist therefore I'm most interested in concepts brought through to resolution (Job done). Which pretty much means I like to plan from ideas , so definitely not a quicky, snappy kinda guy. I'm told that I have a good sense of humour and am fun to work with. I'm a people person.

I'm a professional both academically and commercially (I had bills to pay) and therefore maintain a high level of professional ethics.

I always try to make the shoot an interesting, enjoyable, safe and above all fun experience.

About me, less formally...

I'm a military veteran who eventually escaped and got himself into university art school. Six years of hard study reading virtually incomprehensible books that made my brain hurt! In other words I'm totally bonkers. I'm an artist because that what it says on all my qualifications and peer reviews. I mostly choose to use a camera to make art.

In order to finance all of the above, I washed dishes, every evening, in an Italian restaurant for a number of years. So I'm also very good at washing dishes!

I'm an eternal optimist and natural altruist, I'm never negative, life's just too short. I love most art and creativity and I love people that are full of creative energy. Artistically I guess I'm a Post-structuralist. I shoot all kinds of stuff and also draw and sometimes paint all kinds of stuff. In my approach the subject is secondary.

In terms of creativity there's only one rule in the production of art and that is... THERE ARE NO RULES!.

NO RULES! Aesthetics are not universal, they are entirely subjective. We all see differently. Creativity requires that traditions are broken, tradition being a refuge for those that fear change. Do what your heart tells you to do because your heart never lies, it doesn't know how. Viewing someone else's photo gives you the unique opportunity to get an idea of how they see.

I love meeting good people and having a good time, which I've found over the years is a good way to make good images, along with breaking bad rules, however I try to make a good job of breaking bad rules.

I generally don't do TFP or artist collaborations, but will consider it with very experienced models or qualified artists. I mostly do commissioned commercial work or my self initiated conceptual, contemporary art work. My shoots are usually pre-visualised and directed, so therefore I prefer to work with models that can take direction and work to a brief. I prefer to pay the model a negotiated fee for the shoot.

A chaperone, friend or an assistant are very welcome, preferably female as they can often help with makeup and costume.. I'm used to working with multiple people on set.

I prefer to pay the model a pre-negotiated and agreed fee on completion of the shoot.

If the shoot is successful and I judge the images to be of commercial quality, I will, if required gift the model with a number of licenced images free of charge.

In order to protect the interests of both the model and myself, the model will be asked to sign a model release form.

Also a 'Conditions Of Use of Supplied Free Of Charge Photographs Contract' (Image Use License Agreement) will need to be signed by the model before any photographs are gifted to the model.

Copies of the above can be supplied to the model prior to the shoot taking place.

This is to ensure that the model fully understands where and how any supplied for free images can and cannot be used, and that the model fully understands that under UK copyright law the photographs are the sole property of Janson Photographer / Director of Photography / Creator / Author.

If I cancel a shoot with less than 24 hours notice I will pay 50% of modelling fee as compensation.

If I cancel a shoot due to an "Act of God" which is totally out of the control of myself or the model, then I will pay 10% of the modelling fee as compensation and as a gesture of good faith. I will attempt to reschedule the shoot.

Some shoots are outdoor and on location and I have no control over the weather and international pandemics. Smile
