About Me

I have an honors degree in Biology, but I am a grasscutting supervisor by profession as the job market in Singapore for skilled professionals is very limited. To take my mind off this sad situation and to prove I can do something well, I take photos. Photography is just a hobby for me, but I'm looking to meet some personal standards and elevate myself to a higher level. I'm residing in Singapore but I do travel occassionally. I've been to Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and would love to go to other places and shoot there.

I used to do nothing except shoot cosplay events but want to do something more sophisticated now. Maybe artistic stuff, like what you see in magazines like Juxtapoz, Giant Robot, Hi-Fructose, and so on. Or something commercial or editorial styled. Just want to break free of the sit-with-a-smiley-face-in-the-park shoots that are all too common. Will gladly work with students and people just starting out, we've got to help each other. Got any interesting ideas? Just let me hear about them. I think we should all be creative together - ideas come from everyone.

I can be very professional, but this is a hobby for me, not a career, so I try to keep money out of the equation if we can both benefit. I'm open for TFCDs if you've got a great idea that doesn't just involve sitting and looking pretty. Am also looking for people who can look good without smiling for a personal project. Don't worry, I won't ask for nude shoots, as even if I did them I wouldn't know how to answer my mother when she saw the photos. Oh, and sometimes I prepare spaghetti and bring it along for models. I'm good at making spaghetti.

I'm looking to develop a style involving mixing high fashion with common themes. Currently interested in exploring the following themes and can borrow the wardrobe items:

* Mafioso theme. Shady lighting, cigarettes, fedoras, femme fatales.
* Steampunk. Adorned with lots of clock parts.
* Long, straight black hair, white dress, and a TV. A horror theme.
* Psychotic Alice in Wonderland. Dripping eyeliner, spaced-out look. Based on the American McGee game.
* Camarilla. From the LARP Vampire the Masquerade. Looking for 3 people who have chemistry together to be a Ventrue, Toreador and Malkavian. And maybe a Kuei-Jin or Lasombran for good measure.
* Cyberpunk in neon
* Something based on Serial Experiment Lain
* Victorian picnic in a graveyard
* Guy in a bunny suit at the driver's seat

Please don't be offended if I don't feel I can use your look or experience level as not everyone is suitable for every theme.

I get a lot of mail from 'models' eager to do photoshoots, and after some discussion of the concepts they just get abducted by aliens and totally vanish off the face of the earth towards the planned day, or worse, they send me a message minutes before the time of a planned shoot saying they changed their mind. To date I have been stood up by no less than 25 Singaporean 'models' who never showed up after arranging a meeting and never responded after that, and it is incredibly disrespectful after the planning that went into it plus all the money for travel fare and studio fees that I paid for and lost. This has never happened when I worked with models in other countries. It's fine to back out if you decided you're not keen, but please have the courtesy and decency to at least decline instead of vanishing, and don't do it minutes before the meetup time as I could have planned something else if it wasn't such short notice. Not to mention all the wasted effort lugging 6 kg of equipment around, which isn't doing this old geezer's back any good. Please understand that time is precious given the pace our world moves at now.

I don't have any problem with models with escorts, but I'm not keen on seeing 5 other photographers show up and shoot like nobodys business when I did all the location scouting, wardrobe sourcing, and they contributed nothing and just came to freeload. You're welcome to contact anyone I've worked with to ensure I'm not a psychotic killer who'll cut you into bite-sized strips and hang you over a bathtub during a shoot.

And MM isn't a dating service, so I'd be really grateful if everyone would just stop asking me to be their friend, unless

- We're actual friends
- we've worked together/we might work together
- I really like your work

And to those of you who like to copy my profile info from here and just change the info specific to yourselves for your own profile, please go away. You know who you are. Write your own profile from scratch please.
