Florence Aferi has had aspirations to model since the age of 6, when she discovered her love for glitz, glamour and the flash of the camera. As a little girl, Florence was always dancing and singing in the mirror and imitating poses she had seen in magazines or on television.  Her bubbly personality and bright smile conveyed easily on photos and it brings flair on the runway. Florence modeled clothing designed by her mother, Joan Aferi in fashion shows in Ghana, West Africa as a child and even began learning to design and sew for her dolls. Growing up in her father’s native country of Ghana gave her a bi-cultural background and a diversified approach when it comes to fashion and music. She embraces her diverse background sighting that, “it makes me stand out…makes me different!” she says.

Florence’s goal is to become a successful “real size” model in an industry that has limited representation of “real size” women. The average size of women in America is about a size 14 and she feels that the modeling industry should display beauty in all sizes and shapes equally. Florence is destined to be one of the pioneers in leveling the modeling field and confidently representing all women, with a special emphasis on those that are over a size 6.

Aside from modeling, Florence is an aspiring singer, writer and musician. She is the CEO of Model Virtue, a written publications, mentoring, self-esteem building and development company. As a leader and mentor, Florence desires to empower and inspire all people and equip them with the skills they need to reach their highest potential. Through her work with Model Virtue she has been able to influence young people to aspire to greatness and not to settle for mediocrity.
