About Me

Hi all,

I'm Raeven, an alternative and art model.

I'm currently only taking on paid assignments, as in my spare time I'm very busy with my Environmental Conservation course and related voluntary work. However I am always in need of paid work! There are a few very specific shots I am open to getting for my portfolio on a TF basis at the moment- see below.

I've been modelling for 5 years and my main areas of modelling expertise are:

- Life modelling (drawing, painting and sculpture only- no nude photography except implied) - VERY EXPERIENCED in this
- Art photography (especially weird! But classic too)
- Alternative fashion (tight corsetry, Steampunk, Goth, vintage, latex etc.)
- Artistic fetish (especially shibari)
- Catwalk - I have only done this 3 times, but I won the 26+ age category in the 2013 Alternative Model of the Year catwalk finals, so apparently I am pretty good at it! However the judging in this contest was also on my styling, makeup etc. (all done by me).

You can see some more examples of work I've done since 2009 by clicking "credited photos" in my photo album- these are images of me that others have uploaded to Model Mayhem and tagged me in. I also sometimes come across untagged images with me in which I've added to my MM list: "Raeven Irata on other profiles". However I have done A LOT more work than what is seen here. I've worked with many photographers and artists who aren't on MM.

There are some areas I would love to go into which I don't yet have in my portfolio, so please get in touch if you can help (will do on a TF basis, providing I feel your style will benefit my portfolio):

- Latex high fashion images (designers and photographers please get in touch!)
- Modelling for custom corset designers (I have a naturally hourglass figure and can tightlace my 27" waist down to 22.5")
- Highly creative/high impact artistic makeup and/or body painting.

Any other work, please message me for my rates, which are really very reasonable. Please include in your message as much information as possible about what you are after, and I will work my hardest to make sure you get the fantastic outcome you want. I often have many of my own ideas to bring to a project, and you never know what will come out when two or more heads have ideas coming to them on a shoot, but I will happily take a back seat if necessary too, e.g. if you're working on something very specific.

I am part of alternative subcultures including Goth, Steampunk, Industrial and Metal, and I have a non-mainstream style (or various non-mainstream styles in fact!) I am a DJ, musician and composer.

I have no tattoos, but several piercings in my ears (including stretches), hair is very long (below the waist) and regularly changes to different bright colours, or dread extensions- which are sometimes as long as knee-length, and I have a huge and varied wardrobe. I can look mainstream if necessary as all my piercings can come out, and the stretches are only small (largest is 8"). I've also temporarily sprayed my hair black in the past for a shoot that required a "natural" hair colour, and am willing to wear wigs or head-coverings. However I prefer alternative styles.

I currently live in a large old house, with many derelict parts, in the middle of extensive grounds, including fields and woodland (an unusual and fantastic living situation!), so there is a lot of scope for interesting location shoots. There are also several very large rooms for if you have a portable studio setup. I live a 30-minute walk from the beautiful and historic Durham City Centre, and there is free parking at my house. There are also buses to Durham centre, Newcastle and Darlington going from outside my house.

I don't drive, but have a student railcard, if I were to travel to you. I do however ask for my travel to be paid, at least for paid assignments. Splitting travel costs for whoever is doing the travelling is fine for mutually-beneficial TF assignments. I get 1/2 price tickets with First Transpennine Express, and 1/3 off with all other rail companies.

In all my 5 years of modelling I have NEVER cancelled a booking, whether paid or not, and I expect the same in return, except in exceptional circumstances. I am very busy and often turn down conflicting offers of work when I am already booked, so will not be amused if I end up losing both pieces of work. I am sure you understand.

"We have had Philippa as our main model for around two years. In this time she has been the most reliable and excellent model we have had in the eight years we have run this group. Recently Philippa has had to cycle a fair distance to join us and this has not in any way hindered her attendance. She is excellent at communicating her availability and keeping us posted in good time if there are dates she cannot manage.
Her modelling is brilliant. We can be an indecisive group when it comes to knowing what poses to set and Philippa will just strike some very interesting poses. Along with this she is very good at listening to requests and taking on some more physically demanding stances.
Once in a pose there is rarely any movement at all.
We highly recommend her to you."

"Worked with Raeven on a outdoor gritty shoot, which required acted poses, and I have to say she gave me 100% and I got all the shots I needed. Excellent communication, punctual and hard working. Even through some tough shots she just got on with it. Icing on the cake was she brought an amazing homemade costume, which was just what was required. We needed to shoot with her chaperone (as part of the shoot, requested by myself) and again he was great. Raeven takes direction very well, can act and pose. I couldn't have asked for any more. Highly recommended!"

Jonathan Wootton #865319
"Worked with Raeven at the studio on some headshots, and makeup looks - she's a great model to work with. Highly recommend her, hard working, and takes direction well."

Alberto Santos Bellido #1727115
"The shoot with Raeven was great. Really easy to work with and very creative, I would definitely recommend her."

Pattie, Chips & Gravy #2363156
"Was so good to meet Raeven and even better to shoot with her. Totally prepared and gave everything to get the best out of the shoot. Minus 5 plus wind chill in an abandoned warehouse in a thin dress? No problem!!"

Draconian Artworks #507515
"Had the pleasure of working with Raeven on location in Durham. She has excellent communications, was at the right location at the right time with a good array of costumes.
As for the shoot itself Raeven grabbed onto it with both hands and gave her all.
Proved very capable of putting herself into the required role, interacting with props and surroundings with ease and can leap through the air like a steam powered jet. A job well done"

Hull Art Circle (regular work)
"Philippa has been an excellent model, pleasant manner and professional attitude to her modelling, my fellow artists and I would highly recommend her, she is also very reliable, unfortunately for us she has now moved away from Hull."

Dark Romantics #589523
"Raeven is a fantastic model to work with. She photographs well, poses excellently, follows direction and has plenty of ideas herself and genuinely wants to create interesting works.
But perhaps the best thing about Raeven, the thing I look for in all the models I work with, is her willingness to go the extra mile, try things out, no matter how silly/nasty/messy, and to do so with a smile.
It's that attitude that for me is essential in any model and Raeven has it in spades."

Will Wilkinson #1724907
"Great to work with, had a most creative day with Raeven working on one of her ideas in the morning and one of mine in the afternoon. Full of ideas and very artistic. I'll be working with her whenever I get the chance, just a pity she's so far away from me - over 150 miles, but I'll happily drive it again to work with her."

Lensman Mike
"Pip is meticulous in her preparation, generous with her time, and professional in her demeanour.
She both takes direction well and contributes constructively throughout a shoot in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
A wonderful disposition and a pleasure to work with."

Paul Webster #491907
"I worked with Raeven recently. She is an excellent model to work with. Full of ideas and willing to try different things. Good communication before the shoot, great wardrobe as well. Definitely recommended."

Henry the Artist #1187078
"Raeven is a fantastic model to work with. She is very professional and able to adapt to the requirements of any shoot. I look forward to working with her again."

Aesir Rey Creative #723180
"Pip is a fun, energetic model who helps contribute to ideas and bring a lovely vibe to shoots. Pleasure to work with."

Aceaspades #1009086
"Had a great shoot with Pip full of ideas takes direction well yet gives direction too, some good images came from our shoot...A+ to Raeven Irata, book her."
