Hello MMers!

My name is Rick. = ) My love for digital photography started in August 2008. Since that time I have had several images published in web-based and print-based media, and I have won several photography contests in Quad-Cities newspapers and at my university here in St. Louis. I currently live in St. Louis, Missouri, where I am pursuing a doctorate degree. However, I also spend some time in the Quad-Cities area of eastern Iowa and western Illinois during some of my academic breaks.

While my interest in photography is broad, I have become increasingly passionate about (and experienced with) portraiture and model photography thanks to other photographers and models here on Model Mayhem. I participate on Model Mayhem to continue to gain experience, improve my photography, and hopefully, further models'€™ careers by providing them with high quality images for their portfolios.

MODELS:
Currently, I am only interested in photographing female models, preferably in the age range of 18-30. Females under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian if we agree to shoot.

TFCD/Pay:
If I agree to work with a model, I prefer to shoot TFCD. In exchange for the model'€™s time, I will provide a CD of 5 to 10 edited (possibly more), retouched, high-resolution image files as well as written permission for the model to use the images for non-commercial, personal use. I will only be willing to offer paid shoots to models who (1) I have a strong interest in working with and (2) fit my current projects. For these paid shoots, the model must agree to sign a commercial model release AND fill out the release with the necessary contact information (including name, address, e-mail address, and phone).

STYLE:
You can get a sense of my style and personal taste in my portfolio. My aims are beauty and elegance rather than overt sexuality. I will not agree to a photo shoot that is inconsistent with my style and my values.

EQUIPMENT:
I shoot with a Nikon DSLR, an assortment of Nikkor prime and zoom lenses, Nikon flashes, and various lighting accessories such as diffusers and reflectors.

PHOTO SHOOT LOCATIONS:
As I do not have my own studio, I prefer to shoot outdoor portraits with a combination of ambient light and flash. I may agree to indoor locations if the model and I are both comfortable with the setting.

WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE THE SHOOT
*TFCD Model Release Limited Use Agreement / Commercial Model Release: If requested by the model prior to the photo shoot, I can e-mail a copy of the TFCD Model Release Limited Use Agreement form or Commercial Model Releases (in PDF format) that I will use. I will bring a copy for you to sign on the day of the shoot (if you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian must sign the release form as well). This will be necessary before we begin. For paid shoots, the commercial model releases must be filled out completely.
*Escorts: I am fine with escorts as long as they do not interfere with my photography. If they’re willing to help me out with the shoot (especially with some of my lighting equipment), that’s even better. Models under 18 must be escorted by a parent or legal guardian.
*Make-Up & Wardrobe: As I am not a make-up artist, you will have to supply your own make-up or hire a make-up artist prior/during the shoot to assist you. Likewise, you will also have to supply your own wardrobe. Within a 1-1.5 hour photo shoot, there will probably be enough time for two wardrobes.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THE SHOOT
*After the photo shoot, I will provide the model with a link to a password-protected online gallery of the unprocessed photos. I will indicate the ones that I plan to edit and ask if there are any particular images the model desires to be edited. The CD images will include several edited, retouched, high-resolution image files (probably 5-10 depending on the success of the shoot) and I will also provide written permission for the model to use the images for non-commercial, personal use (e.g., printing and web use). I will not provide a CD of all of the original JPG/RAW files from the shoot.
*I will mail you a copy of the CD. Alternatively, I can provide a download link to a .ZIP or .RAR file of the images as well.

MODEL MAYHEM FRIENDS:
I did not join Model Mayhem to collect thousands of “friends” like on MySpace. I’m using this to network, to accomplish some of my own goals, and to assist others in achieving theirs. For these reasons, I will probably only accept friend requests from people I have worked with, people I will potentially work with, and people with some other convincing reasons for me to add them.
