About Me

I am an artist, author, and photographer. Among other works, I have published a novel about a Wyoming-born cowboy turned fashion photographer, Cutter's Bizaar. Much of the imagery I shot over the last few years was research and painting material for the book and a "magazine" explaining how the novel happened and more.
I am no longer using photography as an art medium. I’m painting only.
Photo shoots are hard work for serious photographers. I’m not sure many of my models have appreciated that. Capturing an image that qualifies as painting worthy is even harder. A photo portrait of a pretty model with nice makeup and hair is relatively easy. Getting a model to get a little crazy and then capturing “Something different” is a lot harder. Can you act? Good fashion editorial models can. That’s what I need.
I don’t have a photo studio. I shoot at home with hot lights, a cloth background, and my motor drive on. I often shoot a thousand frames during a two-hour gig (half of that time is taken up with costume changes, setting the lights, etc.)
I guarantee my models at least six good cropped and retouched photos for their ports. I haven’t had anyone complain that I didn’t fulfill my promise.
However, previously I was shooting full or half body shots. Now I’m mostly interested in tightly-cropped faces or upper body if we come up with a good idea. No matter what I’m shooting, the face has always been the most important element for me. Hence in my old age now that I can’t paint large canvases anymore, faces are what I want to concentrate on. Creative facial gestures (expressions) aren’t easy.
Costume ideas welcome—hats, wraps, hairstyles, makeup, etc. I’m not a makeup artist, but I can help with suggestions and some touchup. I don’t have a makeup kit anymore because I learned how dangerous it is to share makeup.
I’m retired from working for other people, so I can usually shoot when you want to (daylight hours).
My Instagram port is most up to date (budrudesill). My blog has more information on it (
I can't message you unless you're a friend, so you have to contact me if you're interested.
Thank you.
