I think it's a good idea to have other subjects besides one. Pretty much anything that involves people, I've tried or have success at shooting. Music events being a favorite! There are other websites and forums for those who are "Rock and Roll Photographers" .. oh I've shot pretty much all genera's of music from Rock, Country, Jazz, and ever the current stuff. Then I also shoot weddings and portraits. While sports has been an "on and off" shooting thing for me ... I've found that dancers make awesome models for the most part! One thing for sure, I don't like to tell potential customers for weddings too much about all my other activities, otherwise they think I can't do a good job for them. So many of the weddings I've shot have been musicians, and models I already know, and sometimes the highest honor is when I get to shoot another photographers wedding!

Anyone else shoot anything else besides models?

Well, shooting models is for me rather a job that I do for  paid portfolio work.

I am mainly a portraiture photographer (known and unknown people), as well as covering events for a tv station and a few magazines.

In fashion, I am a runway shooter, where I am very active.

But I rarely shoot models the way everybody else on here seems to do.

I actually shoot very few "models" (i.e. for model's books, designer's portfolios, etc).

The majority of my work is private and paid, female glamour and fashion portfolios, sometimes meant as gifts for their significant others or families, or just for themselves.

I also shoot concerts, and CD covers and promo photos for musicians and bands.

I love dancers.  I have photographed a professional football cheerleader squad for about 3 years, and have 2 cheerleader calendars to my credit.  I"ve also photographed quite a few bellydancers, for their personal and professional portfolios and web sites.

The occasional portrait, wedding, pregnancy photos, etc.

I do event coverage (like at car shows, related concerts, conventions).  I usually will post images and a video clip as well.  I just recently posted my coverage of the DUB Magazine Carshow & Concert on my website @ http://www.joseonline.com (3 image sets plus video clip).  Hope ya like it.

I primarily shoot portraits and events. I used to shoot news several years ago until a helicopter crash knocked me out of that job.

After a half dozen years as a news manager, I became a computer nerd.. which is still my primary source of income. I am completing a Master's degree in information security.

Photography won't become a primary income source for at least a couple more years.

working with models is actually very new for me.  my main thing is photographing the biker life style.  so mainly my work has been shooting motorcycle events and scenery.  taking photographs of crazy drunk bikers is a little different then photographing cute tiny models.  so it's a new adventure for sure smile

Every subject presents it's own problems. I grew up near the Laguna Seca race track and tried my hand at shooting the car and motorcycle races there.

It is NOT easy! At least for me ... also I found that dust and even course dirt gets into my cameras when shoot those events. Funny I would take to shooting in the front row of general admission concerts where conditions where not exactly ideal for the camera either!  LOL  I know what you are thinking. No, I do not sneak my camera into concerts! I started back when cameras where allowed, but I saw the changes in policies as it took place over time. "Most of the time," it is not a problem for me to get press passes, however I have seen the changes in the music industry which I blame on "corporate greed!"

I used to race motorcycles and was also a mechanic. Motorcycles took out my leg. It wasn't the dust and dirt messin' up my cameras, it was the greasy hands.I couldn't touch my models.
Now I never get my hands greasy.

oh the dirt!  the hard part for me is that i actually ride to these events.  i keep my camera around my neck the whole time while i am on the back of the bike.  i don't want to miss a thing!  but...we are riding rigid framed choppers, usually a jockey shift.  so you can imagine the dirt my camera collects on these bike runs.  but there is no better way to capture the life then actually living it.  but man, my poor camera.  i can't believe it's still functioning.

Well since I make a living with photography I shoot quite a range of subjects from food to still-life's to political campaigns, ect. Here are a few of my promo cards to illustrate the range of subjects I handle.

The first one is one of  my still life cards. The second is a people illustration card. Last one is a  home interiors card. I also have a corporate interior card as well as commercial fashion card that some of the images on it are on this site.

That's some VERY impressive commercial work there, Dan! Lots of Photoshop done to em, but that's what it takes now. You don't happen to know my commercial photographer friend in your neck of the woods, Gary Bernstein, do you?  Looks like you do shoot a lot of product photography!

Weddings are fun for me, but I like to be selective about which ones I'll take so I don't shoot nearly as many as I could. That sounds strange, huh? Turning down work! But I don't want to get bored either, or be called a "wedding photographer" when I'm so much more. LOL  It's my purgative!

OK Dan we get the idea of what else you shoot. Mine is stated on my profile of what I shoot. I once made the misttake while photographing President Ford, I  said I am here to shoot the president....Secret Service didn;t think that was funny.

Was that before or after  Lynette Fromme ?

Me thinks today they'd of shot you right on the spot. Last year I photographed Senator Fienstien who was endorsing a client (Congressmen Dickinson) I also found out guys with ear pieces have a poor sense of humor.

I love doing landscapes, scenic images when we travel.

I've getting into more press/promotional images for local bands and artists.

Currently working on a catalogue gig.

I have quite a portfolio of sunrises and sunsets - taken from aircraft over 30,000 feet.

One of these days I'll probable compile them into a book or showing.
