Models vs.Photographers..why???
I been reading post after post about how much models are flakey and shouldn't be paid..how agency girls are the ONLY way to go..how photographers are creeps..etc.....It shouldn't be a battle royale between model and photographer!! Shouldn't we work together and get along? help each other out? it all seems to selfish and petty...hell If I can't do a job I'll pass it on to other models...if at my job they need to hire a photographer..I will recommend a photographer who I have worked with..and so on..I hate to sound like a hippie..lets just be cool and try to help one another..so seriously enuff about the "unprofessional models and photoraphers" posts..one bad apple shouldn't ruin the whole batch....smile people...we do this because we love this don't we..so uh..what happened to the love? I do my best to reward those who model for me with the best, most original images I can, but most of all I do what I do because it's part of me and I love it. It is really disheartening to see the animosity that goes back and forth on message boards. We should respect the photographers in their profession as they should respect us. Models should quit attacking each other for personal gain, and Photographers should be nicer people. I am the exception Haa. But I try to give my models a chance to make it up to me. I Don't think of it as a battle between model and Photog. We should just get alone. We both need to work with each other to get what we both are out to do and that is to get great images for each others portfolios. When I switched from just shooting pictures in the street and pic of my friends... and started shooting models and working with other photographers - I discovered a world of drama and backstabbing and gosssip more bizarre than I would have ever dreamed. It was sort of shocking and not a little upsetting. I would think to myself "What's going on here? I homeschooled through HighSchool to get *away* from stuff like this!" I'm 23. I have a day job. I shoot because I like to shoot. It's fun, and sometimes I get wonderful images out of it. Once is a while, I even make a little money it it.  Can't we all just get along? The business is about looks and it should surprise no one that many flaky, dishonest, back stabbing, exploitative, and lecherous people are drawn to it. I feel blessed that I make a living doing another type of photography and am free to pick and choose which models I work with. So far, I seem to have chosen well. May 08 05 09:53 pm Link I think a lot of it has to do with misplaced egos on both sides. I have seen in various places even on this site the ego's that fester by both sides. Once each realizes that the other doesn't exist in the particular venue without the other then maybe some kind of truce and respectful understanding can be made. Sure there are a lot of photographers who are creeps. And there are a lot of models both males and females who are bitches. So avoid those and get to work. We need each other. As I have said to many models before when you can or do my job then you can tell me HOW to do my job.
