Okay. Here is the story.

I'm friends with a model. We'll make up a fake name and call her Abubaca (which is actually the name of an old BMX freestlye trick for those of you hip enough to know it).

Anyway, one day, Abubaca and I are on the phone and she tells me about working with another model ... we'll call her Bob.

So, Abubaca invites Bob to do a softcore girl/girl porn shoot for a website. They have worked together before, so Abubaca and Bob do not exchange any money. They just do it for fun. But, for the shoot, Abubaca rented a very fancy hotel suite and hired a makeup artist for both of them.

Here is the lame part...

A week later, Bob is asking about getting copies of the photos because Abubaca promised Bob some copies. Abubaca asks if Bob would pay for half the cost of the makeup artist! Which was like $200.

Abubaca says Bob got pissed off and stopped returning phonecalls. So, Abubaca tells me this story and tries to get sympathy from me.

"I don't think I was being unreasonable," Abubaca explains. "I mean, I was only asking Bob to pay for half the makeup artist and the makeup artist worked on Bob too."

"No," I said, "You can't do that! I don't blame Bob for being mad at you. I agree that asking Bob to pay for half the makeup fee is fair. BUT it is ONLY fair is you ask BEFORE the shoot. You can't drop that on her AFTER the fact. That is totally wrong."

"You think?"

"Yeah! You have to discuss things like that ahead of time. You don't do it a week after the fact. That's just rude."

"Oh, yeah," Abubaca conceded. "I guess I can see your point."

I dunno if the situation was ever resolved. But, I wanted to share the tale just so people don't make that kind of mistake. Remember - talk; communicate; make your intentions known BEFORE the shoot. Make sure all is clear so there are no misunderstandings. Always be upfont about everything. Especially when it involves money.

Or as they say in South Central, ye olde bling-bling.

As the "oldest profession" pros will tell you to ask for the money upfront before you start anything.  wink

The truly sad part..."Abubaca" still probably doesn't see anything wrong with what she did. So many people are completely self-involved, it's sickening.
