What kind of books or periodicals do you all read? I am curious as to what our photographers, artists, and models (or general members) are reading...

I don't usually read anything fashion or photography related...

Here are my top magazines.

1. FSB
2. Smithsonian
3. Wilson Quarterly
4. Time Magazine
5. The Artist's Magazine
6. Muscle and Fitness

On and off I might pick up the ocassional Vogue, Self, or O (Oprah) Magazine, but I usually stick with my subscriptions.

Impressive image...  My B/F reads that Motorcycle Magazine, too... as well as Martial Arts and some other various  fitness stuff...

(so, uh, how much do you want to wager on Visual MINDSCAPES saying he reads, "Hustler, Playboy, and Penthouse..." LOL)

Nahh... I think VM is more of a Maxim/FHM/Stuff type. All the "Laddies."

I don't read periodicals. But I do pick up fashion mags in wating rooms and call it "research."

That's Visual Mindscapes, not Images!  GrRRRR!

I have a ton of free magazine subscriptions.  Here's my top 4.  Maxim, Playboy, Stuff and FHM.

I also like PC Photo (very helpful stuff in there), Tips & Tricks (video game magazine) and Low Rider (latina chicks are hot).

I used to read Picture/photomarket but lost my free subscription.

PDN
I really do read National Geographic
photo insider(free)
Aperture
Harper's (that's harper's not Harpers Bazaar for me)

But my question is when does MM come out on Internet on books on paper on tape for those times when you have carpel tunnel or you eyes hurt.

I also love to read Books on tape on paper for those times when you just want to sit quietly and read an old fashioned paper book.  Or for when you tape player is broken.

Speaking of periodicals, are there good local trade papers for fashion in NY? Things that don't get national distribution, that might even only be in certain spots?

I have subscriptions to Allure, Vogue, Vanity Fair and Psychology Today. I read those along with V, W, Tank, Zink, Nylon, Surface, Flaunt. There are a few photography books I like is the View Camera Arts, B&W, and PDN. Some of the others seem like paid advertisements for camera equipment. I tend to do my own research when I buy equipment. The spec page on B&H Photo is a great summary of tech specs.

As for Mechanical Engeinering, I read ASME newspaper, NSPE newspaper, Journal of Light Construction, Accident Reconstruction Journal, Fire Findings, NFPA newsletters, and HVAC periodicals. I used to subscribe to a few mathematics trade magazines, but I am not getting them anymore.

I'll read/scan the NY Times from email.

Otherwise, I am reading books on everthing from religion to art.
