i'm in a public library, berkeley..

last night i missed coming in from the rain by 10 guys or so,
i slept under a tree and stayed half dry..

before i found my spot i passed victor who was standing in a parking lot in the rain wearing shortys and a tee-shirt..

victor is off his meds, walks around talking to himself...

"victor, i have an extra blanket, you want it?"

""i'm already soaked, no thanks, and my name is stevedor""

found my spot...  it did rain again..

i woke up soaked... victor came roaming by about 30 mins after i 'broke camp' took the blanket he refused last night.. wrapped it around himself..

made a hood of the blanket and all of a sudden he was the secret pope in a monastary..

had breakfast in a soup line.. oddly the guy beside me who is punching himself in the face was at my table this am.. my egg started to roll away, he 'helped' me by smashing my egg so it wouldn't roll away..

lots of guys off their meds..

talking to who knows who..

went to the shower place.. got bumped up when the guy before realized his coat was missing and went to look for it... i have a change of clothes in a duffel bag and i am considered 'rich'

stopping by the library to do this before going to the laundrymat..

after this i'll go to a soupline againe for lunch/dinner..

then go to the zen center to meditate..

staying sane in the middle of confusion seams easy and hard at the same time..

on the other hand i met a physics grad student yesterday, his faculty advisor was my boss at the lab..

jesus christ.  i don't know what to say lotus.  i can't stand for a friend and fellow artist to be in this kind of situation - you don't deserve to have to live like this.  i'm 3,000 miles away and i'm helpless to help.  aren't there people in your network of friends and artistics out there that are willing to keep this from having to be as it is?

this brings me to tears.

Raise up some money to get him a plane ticket to someone's house, like mine, where he can stay until he can get things figured out.

I say this, I'm not really sure what happened and why you're living like this, but I'm assuming you're down on your luck, to be cliche, and you need help.

his landlord let the place he was renting go into foreclosure.  he knew for awhile that he'd have to move out and maybe didn't plan far enough ahead.  But most of us aren't too many paychecks away from being him.  as often as he posted in ot, i'm surprised that everyone didn't know that this had happened.  i offered him a place here a month ago, but he couldn't get here.

Yeah, economy/finances are hard on everyone right now. I figure if we take a donation though, you know, a little from everyone, get him someplace where he can stay for a month or two til he gets a job, then help out as much as he can....

Ok, I have been doing a bit of detective work based on what he says in his original post, and I think he is in South Berkely, CA somewhere in the Alcatraz Ave, Martin Luther King Jr Way, Adeline St, Shattuck Ave area (near the Ashby Bart Station).

I can't be more specific than that, but it is the only area that has a public library, soup kitchen, shelter and Zen center all within close proximity to each other.

If there is anyone that is close by and is willing to help a friend and fellow artist out, shout out and do so loud

If I could help, I would - any Bay area MM'ers out there that can help. Seems to me he needs help right away, and locals should be able to help quickest.

If there's a way to send it, I can give $150. I'd been putting it aside for no particular reason, and now I know why. Please let me know how I can get it to you. I know it's not a permanent fix, but if you have family or friends somewhere, anywhere in the US, $150 will get you a plane ticket and some food.
