Feb 24 08 11:28 am Link Hi, There are many gals that dream about becoming a âmodelâ, just as some might want to be a rock star, country singer, actress⦠even a surgeon or astronaut. A few gals snap MySpace-style images and put them up here at Model Mayhem. Doing this allows them to live their dream risk-free. Such individuals often check their portfolios on a daily basis, reading messages and apparently enjoying the attention of picture comments and tags from hopeful photographers. A few may even participate in the forums. However these gals will never set foot in front of a camera apparently for fear that the bubble will burst. Over the years Iâve gone round and round with a few such gals that I hoped had potential. Iâve spent months trying to sort out precisely what each individual was looking for in the way of a photo session and truly work along those lines. Yet nothing has ever comes of it with any of these gals. It seems that is also the case with everyone else that corresponds with these potential models since their portfolios are never updated beyond the original images. Another breed of similar individual is the âone-sessionâ model. She actually shoots one time â often with a good photographer, willing to take a chance on her. However thatâs it. Pictures in hand, this gal never steps in front of a camera again. Now that she is a model, why should she? It is a complex mix of individuals here on both sides of the camera at Model Mayhem. And these modeling dreamers -- often with with real potential that they sadly don't see in themselves -- are a large part of that mix. I can always use a hand changing backgrounds, adjusting lights holding reflectors, etc. And I don't even have to pay for an assistant. Feb 24 08 11:58 am Link Thanks Tom. It sure put thing in perspective. Someone should put that in the FAQ or Wiki Feb 24 08 12:01 pm Link Mz Pocahontas wrote: Duh. Feb 24 08 12:03 pm Link M9 Photography wrote: haha...thanks so are you. Feb 24 08 02:41 pm Link Ugggh, I hate people like that. It makes me want to thump them. hard. Feb 24 08 02:41 pm Link SouthFLpix wrote: I guess that's true, but it would of been mentioned on her profile? Feb 24 08 02:42 pm Link I thought only photographers were the ones who hated having their picture taken, that comment from a model is beyond stupidity LOL EDIT: oops i meant someone on a modeling site who is looking for work as a model, she isn't a model LOL Feb 24 08 02:43 pm Link danniepiggott wrote: Yeah I agree. It was not on her profile at all. Feb 24 08 02:54 pm Link M9 Photography wrote: i wonder if this is an issue that can get someone kicked out/off the site? Feb 24 08 02:57 pm Link It also could have been a brush off, the problem is she forgot where she was and used a ridiculous excuse LOL Feb 24 08 03:00 pm Link Spade wrote: That's how I look in pictures most of the time! I hate to have my pictures taken too, but that's why I became a photographer! Feb 25 08 02:02 am Link danniepiggott wrote: Sites are only as stupid as how people use them......... Feb 25 08 02:05 am Link Life is short, chalk it up to ''kookie'' and simply move on. You've already wasted enough time and brain cells trying to figure her out. Feb 25 08 08:36 am Link Oh no.. I assumed till the end you were speaking of say myspace.. but she is on MM as a model and says that? I would have called her on it. Let her know this is not meant to be a friends networking hang out site. Crap or get off the pot so to speak. -Tizzy Feb 25 08 08:41 am Link I've seen a lot of ports on MM that have no relevance to modeling whatsoever. I seen a model port where the "model" states that she's not looking for any work...she's only on here because her friend is. I guess it is turning into the new Myspace. Oh and I love this one...."I'm 17 and I'll be graduating soon so I need some nice casual pictures taken for senior pictures. TFP/CD only!" How about that! hehe! Feb 25 08 08:41 am Link She could be a fake? Feb 25 08 08:48 am Link re- photography wrote: I can't stand myspace so I don't use it Feb 25 08 08:53 am Link maybe she just didnt like your pictures and didnt have the heart to tell you Feb 25 08 09:16 am Link Maybe shes not here for pictures. Maybe she wants to do shows. She probably needs professional images, but if having her picture taken is a phobic thing for her and she really wants to do shows, maybe shes hoping the cell phone images are sufficient.
