Having just read an article in Communication Arts on Pantone's 2006 fashion color predictions, I am curious...

On an individual basis, in the world of makeup, hair, and clothing design and styling, how much do you personally go by Pantone-specific (or other standards-specific) color matching and industry trends and rules for constructing a look?  How much do you 'wing it' on feelings?  Or do you have the standards and trends memorized to the point that following technical rules looks like 'winging it'?

I have been taught to do that but that is not me.

I can see color better than most from judging prints and such.

but I wing it for the most part.   To the point that if I get hired to color match,  I will just hire an assistant that can do it better than I.

I can do it but why bother.  I have yet to be paid for that.
