Methinks you should read the thread already in session called "mainstream models with pseudonyms."

Okay, I read that thread, and I don't think that John's question was even touched.  There was a lot more about what Kate Moss's name would be if she were a goth model.

I mostly ignore monikers, but I expect to know those with whom I'm working.  I understand someone's reluctance to put her or his real name on the internet (particularly if one has features that tend to draw unwanted attention).  However, I would certainly prefer not to work with someone whose name I did not know.  What it comes down to is that this is the Internet, and one of the Internet's great features is its anonymity.  But by the time you cross out of the Internet zone, I expect the anonymity to go with it.

I always tell new models to use something other than their real name to avoid anyone on the internet from being able to find them by using online tools.
When they are about to sign a legal contract with a photographer or agency, they can include a clause there that they are to be referred as that alias in all but legal documents.

My legal name is far too distinctive to put online. I sign my real name on releases, but stipulate my alias must be used to identify me in all publications.

After all, I'd hate to ruin my chances at public office.

This sums up my stance pretty succinctly.

Model monikers?

I don't think monkeys should be models. That's animal exploitation. And it's insulting to suggest that a monkey could do a models job.

I mean, models should be hot and sexy men and women. If we start using monkeys, won't that encourage beastiality? That's just wrong.

No, I'm against model monikers for all those reasons.

Ohhhhh. Wait. Monkiers!

You mean Buddhist monkiers? Well, I think it's cool that they came down from their temples and formed that pop-band in the 60s, The Monkiers, and had that song, "Hey, hey, we're the Monkiers!"

Hear about that porn star appearing at a White House benefit? She's going to be running for office in California. What's her name again? What about that Porn Queen who is top boss in, what was that country again?

There's this Photographer at my work who doesn't want co-workers knowing he does photography. Me? They all know I do photography and did some nudes and I could give a rat's left testical if they thought lesser of me, because I've done nudes. I needs my Art. So, if they want me for my brain, they got it the entire day. Afterwards, it's my time and I use it to work my craft.

I have always thought Kitty Litter would be a good model name.

I think real first name and last initial works out best in the long run.  Of course if your real name is Candi people think it is fake anyway.  Then some of us have names that prove our parents weren't very imaginative.

I do hope the John that started this thread doesn't get arrested for some headline making deed or my days on the internet will be numbered.

I use a real name online and a fake name to sign legal documents.

This way I don't have to serve any public office or jury duty....

Models with monkeys,  good and bad to me.
Fun to have around but a bit smelly and the hair pulling must be terrible.

Oh by the way,  My dogs name is not really Hana.  You need to meet me to get the real deal.
