And it's typically pretty fun. Again, as long as you're not bothered by such a thing. I don't know how much footage we fucked up with bloopers of someone falling off of a bed or just cracking up laughing, but I can tell you that it was alot.

Not just before shooting - between takes too - the guy has to maintain "wood," as they say in the business, and has been said already, it can be anything but exciting. Lots of pressure too, so it's a rare porn star who can produce the goods all the time.

To do it yourself you have to go somewhere in your head - pretty difficult with a whole film crew, and other actors standing around watching. External stimulation is a lot easier I would imagine.
