Where do you actually buy Glycerin?
I read the post about using glycerin with water for use on hair and how its really cheap to find at stores. We have longs drugstore on the island so i checked there and they said they didnt have it and i checked the Foodland store nearby because it tends to have a lot of items and locally made beauty products. Didnt see it. Which aisle would it be down or what products would it be near? Jun 20 08 11:36 pm Link I buy my Glycerine from the Health Food store - I've also found it in some supermarkets in the area with food dyes/geletine/etc. Jun 20 08 11:41 pm Link ah okay...so sorta buy cake mix area. Thank you. Jun 21 08 12:53 am Link most drug stores have liquid glycerine in small bottles. Jun 21 08 12:54 am Link It also can be used on models rather than baby oil to add shine and make water droplets look good if your trying to show perspiration and its easier to remove than oil Jun 21 08 01:01 am Link go to the pharmacy and ask the pharmacist on duty. Most places keep it behind the counter at the pharmacy. Jun 21 08 01:06 am Link I got mine at Meijer, it was in the pharmacy area. I cant, for the life of me remember what all was around it. I am told that walmart has it too. I am not sure if those stores are in your area though. Jun 21 08 01:07 am Link Thank you for the pharmacy heads up, because so far i've come up empty handed again. Husband is at walmart right now, so i'll have him head to that dept. Mahalo! Jun 21 08 01:27 am Link I got mine at Walmart! Jun 21 08 01:30 am Link From Wallgreens. Jun 21 08 01:30 am Link Taxidermists use tons of it as well, to soften skins. You could call your local guy. It is used a lot in food photography as well to make the food shine. It is also use by the caning industry. Anything Rattan need Glycerin to be more workable. Good luck Jun 21 08 01:34 am Link Savon, Right Aid and Wal-Mart use to carry it. But I have not seen any lately Jun 21 08 01:37 am Link you may want to thin it with some water. test out a few different dilutions for the best look or effect that you are after. just remember-a little goes a LONG WAY!!! best place to find it-is at your favorite pharmacy. check with those behind the counter. good luck to you! Jun 21 08 01:43 am Link Iv seen some at Wallgreens the other day. Jun 21 08 01:46 am Link Found some....thank you again. Jun 21 08 01:51 am Link Another use for glycerin is to soak your opals in when they get dull. It rehydrates the stone and restores the fire. I can probably think of three or four other uses, seems like it's used in food styling too to make burger patties look juicy. Jun 21 08 01:57 am Link Found mine at Super walmart for $2 Jul 09 08 12:23 pm Link I found glycerin suppositories at CVS. They come in 4 "ready to use" tubes. I haven't used them yet, but I couldn't find the bottles of glycerin so I picked it up in case I need it. Jul 09 08 12:36 pm Link I couldn't find it in the chain pharmacies (Walgreens, CVS) where I am, but a local drugstore carried it. Handy for artificial teardrops rolling down a cheek, as well. Jul 09 08 04:05 pm Link Ask Gavin Rossdale Jul 09 08 04:08 pm Link It used to be just about everywhere, if you get desperate, try Flynn Scientific, they supply university labs, but should sell small amounts in a prepaid order. They were probably the most friendly to non academic clients. Bill Sheridan represents them in Ohio, but I would try their web site and send them an email. Probably a good source for photographic chemistry as well. If you have a friend at a local school, or university, in a science department, am pretty sure they can spare some, they are paying a fortune to have their store rooms put in order. Jul 09 08 04:13 pm Link Pharmacy ??? just go to the supermarket ...you can just but it in small bottles next to baking section usually near food colouring Jul 09 08 04:49 pm Link Hmmm...I see this is used to make skin shiny right? If it's the Liquid Glycerin I'm thinking of...you can get LARGE bottles in most places that have Soap Making supplies. My Michael's and AC Moore both have it...and I didn't realize it until I did a search on here but I have a BIG bottle already at home from making natural glycerin soaps (no additives and the glycerin helps it lather from what I remember) EDIT*** now that I'm thinking more about it, I think the Glycerin I have is actually a soap but I cannot be sure. I guess I'll pull it out when I get home! Jul 09 08 04:54 pm Link Yep, in every Pharmacy, its super cheap Jul 10 08 05:45 am Link |
