Digital vs. Film vs. Stone
From now on, I'm gonna use stone cameras. You know, like in The Flintsones when the bird chisled a portrait in a block of granite. Screw film. Screw digital. I'm going old school with my photography. I'll have longer archival life and higher resolution than anyone. Like if I want to take a photo of a dog? Here goes: ![]() Jun 20 05 10:53 pm Link And the controversey begins.... Koda-STONE rules, Eckta-STONE is for amateurs! ANd don't get me started on the Fuji Pebblia or Ilford GRANITE5, Too Grainy! Jun 20 05 11:00 pm Link Posted by Eric Muss-Barnes: Make headlines. Sleep on a cuneiform tablet. Jun 20 05 11:09 pm Link LMFAO! I'm installing Photo-stone 1.0 as we speak. (Can't wait for 1.1) The download is taking forever, I have to keep changing the filter on my cable modem Jun 20 05 11:15 pm Link Posted by Eric Muss-Barnes: I think you can actually get stone laser engraved with photographs now.......hehe.. Not so silly of a statement Jun 21 05 05:57 pm Link Then there will be the separation of stone workers, The stone lab workers, the stone wannabes, the fashion stoners, the plain stoners, the porn stoners, the art(yea right) stoners, the stoners who are such but do not call themselves such, the stone polishers, ....... Jun 21 05 06:24 pm Link Pentax Stonio : Official Stoner of the Internet. Jun 21 05 06:30 pm Link So who would you rather shoot, Peebles, Wilma, or Fred's wife whom I forgot. Peebles would of course be of age, but Wilma and the other one would have stayed the same. Jun 21 05 07:16 pm Link William was right-- I actually saw one of those laser engravers at an expo in Chicago. It looks pretty cool too. Its not really for fashion-- its more of a Mother's day (or anniversary) type of thing. They scan in your photo and it engraves the image on a 12" x 12" slab of marble. I think I remember the price being around $75-$100. Jun 21 05 10:25 pm Link I prefer stone. Much better depth of field. Jun 22 05 12:10 am Link Posted by marksora: mark, man you gotta lay off the drugs...wilma IS fred's wife Jun 22 05 02:39 pm Link OH that's just great! Now I need a stone scanner, and Photo-Stone! Oh and how do I open a RAW stone? Not to mention, where do I get the chisle, and hammer plug-ins? Bet those will cost a few stones! Jun 23 05 04:41 pm Link It puts a new meaning to the phrase "that person must be athletic cuz' their body is really chisled!" Jun 23 05 04:44 pm Link Last I heard someone tried inventing a stone-strobe flash and made everyone extinct. Jun 23 05 04:45 pm Link Posted by Vance: the great thing about stone, is all the RAW formats are compatible with the Lava plug in Jun 23 05 05:07 pm Link Stone-format just has too many issues... HARD to work with... COLD feel to the images... Too GRAINY... Too SLOW... SHARPness issues... That all said, it's fade and weather resistant and I hear many have taken a LICHEN to it! ![]() Jun 23 05 10:24 pm Link Posted by Michael Feinberg: Ouch. Just OUCH. I like the pain. Jun 23 05 11:43 pm Link Posted by Michael Feinberg: LMFAO Jun 24 05 08:39 pm Link Ok, so can we call photographers who use a stone camera Stoners? Or would they be Stenographers? Would models shot with a stone camera be stoned? I'm so confused... Jun 27 05 12:20 am Link As a great man once said....Bob Dylan I believe... "Everybody must get STONED!!"
