Lenses and perspective of the face

But for many magazine assignments I like the immediacy of being very close to my subject with a Mamiya RB 50mm lens (equivalent to a full sized sensor 28mm). I have to put my camera on a tripod and gently raise and lower the camera until the apparent distortion is at a minimum. I never used any lens longer than the 140mm (about a 75) because it simply puts me to far away from my subject. I cannot connect at a distance.This a photograph of playwright and author Anosh Irani.
