Anyone know how to make a magazine cover?
I want the pages and the cover especially to look authentic. I'm not expecting it to look like those that are already in publication but as close as I can get would be nice. I'm Trying out a project, and I'm not sure how it'll work out..but I have no idea how to go about it..so if anyone has any knowledge they could share that would be great. Thanks! Feb 25 06 09:41 pm Link What are you talking about? Using the style/design of an already in print magazine cover? Making up a mockup magazine cover? If you want to make a mockup magazine cover for anything other than building a new magazine I'd say don't do it. I will also say it's easy enough to do in photoshop. If you want to make interior pages and make them like a magazine does you'll need Adobe InDesign or Quark Express. Feb 25 06 09:44 pm Link which magazine? Feb 25 06 09:46 pm Link Well it's in the very beginning stages, and it's kind of a complicated story..but yeah in a nut shell..just for kicks and giggles I want to make a mock magazine..and it is because I want to start one.. I know I'm a long way from that right now..but I wanted to make a couple and see what some people thought of it. However Idk where to begin. And I want it to look believable. Feb 25 06 09:46 pm Link Whew...I thought maybe you wanted one because you were going to do fake portfolio tears or something. Where to start? Search for a graphic designer. craigslist might be a good place You will need to pay them...just like you'd need to pay a good photographer. You get what you pay for. Remember, Adobe CS for design and publishing starts at $900...and a graphic designer most likely has to pay off that education still. I know a part time graphic designer here in New Jersey (the guy I work with on web sites) who would probably do this type of project for a couple hundred dollars. If you'd like the info just let me know. Feb 25 06 09:52 pm Link check your messages i have a offer for you. Feb 25 06 09:52 pm Link its really not that hard, but you do need some type of imaging software, as a student you can get photoshop cheap or elements for under 100 pick your image, make sure ist one that has room for text then simply add text with the text funtions, change the font size as appropriate, add some phony article teasers add your title add a date/month issue number done Feb 25 06 09:56 pm Link Just use photoshop. You will need some headline style fonts. (notice the font style and kerning of the fonts on Mag covers is usally different than typical) Feb 25 06 10:01 pm Link most any place will print them! check the yellow pages. the more you order the less it will cost per page. but my offer still stands. check out the compcard on my site. i have done mag covers just don't have one on the web.
