Does anyone have any experience in building a Cyc for a studio?

Not a true cyc, but a really close second. Pick up a roll of linoleum, the cheaper the better, irregular or ugly is fine. Turn it upside down so the bottom is up and attach it to the wall at ceiling height. Using a wood strip to apply even pressure at the top can prevent eventual tearing. Now paint it any color you want. With the bottom upward, you'll find the bottom accepts paint easily and it's easy to repaint as needed. It gives about 98% of the use of a full cyc, missing only the 'L' shape curve, It gives a very nice upward sweep at the back.

The method you choose depends on whether or not you want to do it right. There are a couple of different types from Infinity Wall Systems that are sold at www.calumetphoto.com . Go there and do a speed search for INFINITY. The LiteCyc kits are easy to install, affordable and UPS-shippable.

The Custom Cyc comes in larger pieces, is more durable and meant for permanent installations. They also have corner pieces available. More work to install than a LiteCyc. Their item # IW5004 has a link to a set of installation instructions so you can decide whether you want to go that route.
