Why does this guy have a fish on his head?

Anyone that's had more than 10 minutes of experience using the internet knows what I'm talking about when defining Nigerian e-mail spammers.

Officially known as Nigerian419 schemes, it's those e-mails that we've all gotten from someone in Nigeria offering a boatload of money for doing a seemingly easy task.

Photographers will typically be asked to shoot an event.  The photographer is to receive a cashiers check to cover the shooting fees and all expenses, but is required to use Western Union to send the balance of money back to Nigeria.

Models are usually asked to be in some high profile fashion show that pays tens of thousands of dollars for a few hours work,  but must send a travel deposit via Western Union.

The checks received are always fake.  The cash refund sent via Western Union is real, and untraceable.

There are MANY other variables to the 419 scams.  Most people either read 'em and delete 'em, while others will formally complain to ISP's, mail hosts, or even law enforcement agencies...

...but...

SOME people choose to HAVE FUN with the crooks and expose 'em for everyone to see!

Yes, there are some people (called 'baiters') that make a hobby out of getting those scammers to send photos of themselves (either in compromising positions or holding funny signs), which are posted on a website for the whole world to see!

You can view the website at: www.419eater.com

Click on "the Trophy Room" to see photos of themselves that the scammers have sent in!

Click on "the Hall of Shame" to view the 'great' photoshop skills of other scammers that tried to make fake I.D.'s or other fake photos.

Visit the 'Letters' section to view the correspondence which took place between several scammers and baiters posing as 'victims'.

Be sure to view "The Tale of the Painted Breast" (a 419 scam in reverse) to see how a baiter actually got the Nigerian Scammer to send him $80... which was featured on international news broadcasts!.

I love it.  Now, is there a site devoted to turning the tables on scammers offering to increase the size of my schwanz?

The have broadened their scams to telephones....

I worked at Cingular, and every now and then we would get a phone call from someone who wanted to buy say 50 razrs outright (at $359 a pop) and have them sent to Nigeria. They wanted to pay with a credit card (stolen obviuosly) over the phone

The gov't of Nigeria actually arrests the jokers when found.

They have simply moved offshore, most of them operate from Britain, and Amsterdam.
