Ok, so I am not a fan of these, and most likely there are not many of you who are...but...I have a niece who is an aspiring MUA and for her graduation present I was thinking of getting her a complete kit. I wanted to work on building her a killer kit but she wants something complete now so that she can start doing some TFP. I figured it will be more cost efficent for her Mother and I to split the bill on a complete kit and it will not be a total waste if she decides she isn't into it anymore..
I am looking to spend maybe $1,000 for the kit, I heard Mudd has some and so does Tigi, I was interested in the Tigi one but found no links to it even from the professional site.
Anybody have links?
Thanks so much.

I would just assemble it yourself.  That way you can eliminate all the cheap filler stuff they add (and you pay for)

Mary,
I really want to but I think it is going to be tough to assemble a decent complete kit for a thousand bucks..don't you think? My kit took at least 2 years to be this decent and god knows how much I have spent. What do you reccomened? I want her to have a decent selection of everything so she can start on tfp and figure out if it is really the direction she wants to go in..

well I am sure that you can put together a killer kit with a grand.
you know what you need as an artist. you can put together a kit with the basics, like foundations, and eye shadows, ect ect. I am sure that one you put together for her will be much better than one thats already put together smile..Mandy of Deadly Design Make-up Artistry.

I just searched google for-ever looking for starter kits and I found these:
http://store.elanmakeup.com/pd_makeup.cfm
http://www.jordane.com/main_1_1_2.php3
And they look pretty flimsy. I've seen the one by Mudd and it looks nicer, but I agree... you should build a kit- it would be much cheaper and much better quality.

Thanks for taking time to help me out Jessica,
I am starting to think building the kit will be the best option because those kits aren't cutting it. Her Mom just seems to be bent on buying a kit! I am going to see if I hear from this TIGI rep I called, because supposedly the tigi kit, is complete and I know their products are decent quality and the case is nice with rolling wheels at just 925. Thanks for eveyones input!!

I have been asked for pre assembled kits ever since I opend my online store....I am finally caving.  I have the kit put together on paper with only great products, the essentials for a beginner...Now all I need to do is find a quality case and I'll start selling them.  Keep your eye on the store, as soon as I find the right case (nothing cheap and flimsy) I will put them up....Way under $1,000.00!!!

I got $1,000 for my birthday last year and bought a whack load of makeup and a gigantic case for it, and had some extra money to spare. If you take the time to research, go to stores and test/try everything out/price check, and make a list (what I did), then you can really get a lot for your money.

But Mary's upcoming kit would definately be a good deal too! I wish it'd been around when I started up.

The Mud one is good but you could also assemble a few e/s and blush palettes from la femme and get her the cinema secrets foundation palettes.

the mud one is pretty bare bones, i got it when i went to school there and it is pretty good.

https://www.stanleytools.com/catalog_images/mid_res/18600_mid_res.jpg This is my makeup box...works perfectly!! Has a lift out tray that I keep most of my makeup in and I use the bottom part for my hair supplies. There is a little trun out tray in the middle and it is perfect for holding bead gems eyelashes!!! It is a little top heavy though so I am make something like a kick stand for it...The bast part is that is only cost me 20 bux!!! Stands about 3 feet tall or so!!!

Mary,
The way I bang and swang..I always go with a hard case! If you could assemble something I will def. consider it and I will pass on the word..alot of artists just starting will appriciate a kit with good quality product in it.

Thanks.

Sable Brushes...

http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi … ID=1729187

Not the absolute best brushes money can buy... but enough to get the job done I think. Trying to save the budget for MUFE Face & Body foundations. lol.

Edited to Add: OMG! Overstock sells Kiss Me Mascara! My favourite! Too expensive for your kit, but if you have a model who has eyelash extentions (the ones that cost hundreds of dollars)... this is one of the only mascaras that can be worn without breaking down the glue. Excuse me while I... go buy all of it! lol.
