What is interesting about the Getty site for the interview with Arnold Newman is that the photographs are all cropped the same. The original image of Stravinsky (with the piano) was a two-page spread. Here it has been cropped. What Newman has been famous for is his ability (like Bert Stern) to take out as much out of picture and still come up with the essence of the person being potographed. A photo by Newman today may not interest some who are used to special effects.

I caught it--got a good chuckle with the "diffuse glow" remark.  How about a Newman portrait of JFK with a soft, gaussian blur to the skin?
