It may be possible to rent one from someplace.  No idea where,  I own one smile  Maybe an indoor gym near you rents out shoes and harnesses by the day or something.

I figured if people don't have a harness they probably don't have climbing shoes either,  so that needs to be sorted out as well.

The mention of a camping meet and greet works well with the new river gorge.  There are tons of camping sites there for all the climbers and river rafters.  We can also turn random climbers into models pretty easily.  Climbers love having photos of themselves climbing!  Thats why they're called climbers.

I updated my port.  Luckily I was able to shoot a little bit after the event was over.

I know this is slightly off topic, but since you brought it up. . .

I would love to see something in the Roanoke/Lynchburg area for those of us in the sw and our neighbors in the south in places like Greensboro, NC.
Just have no clue how to even start trying to organize such an event. . .

I posted about renting out a bed and breakfast an hour north of you.

The only other way I can think of besides renting a place is to track down a huge studio and get them to let us in for free.  smile  Convince them it'll get them new customers to rent it out or something.

It doesn't always have to be that elaborate.  Some people recently did a skyline drive leaf-color-peak meet & shoot by meeting at a parking lot.

All you need is a place.  smile

The bed and breakfast would be awesome. Where would we get the fundage, though?

I think we should organize more of these. The turn out would be awesome.. Plus having so many creative people in the came area normally produces some killer stuff. We just have to have ground rules set pripor to the event.

Well if everyone wanting to attend had to lock in with a fee to pay for it, it might insure that only serious types would show up. . . and no foolishness would take place.

Oh, that's a brilliant idea.

The meet and greet that happens in Kansas City is like that.

This place charges per head for renting the entire place out for a conference or wedding for the weekend.  It gets cheaper per-person the more people we get to go, but on average the rate is about $10 a head.

We'd basically have to find out when its available and then get everyone who commits to going to paypal someone the money before we can book it.

I think setting rules and having a fee is an excellent idea. The place I'm looking to rent a studio at in the Richmond area (Artworks) Would be a nice place to shoot. They have bathrooms with showers and all kinds of neat stuff. Plus it near the river, railroad tracks, warehouses and the flood wall. Also has security cameras all over the building so anyone messing up will be on camera and have to answer for things on their own.

However, I think you need to have a reasonable fee, a waiver sheet to sign for damages, name tags or bands that must be worn, and a list of rules saying where you can and cannot go/shoot. Drinks need to be limited to sodas and Juice and just arrange for a place to go after to have all that.
