list your influences
It's always interesting to see who or what inspires and influences people to produce the images that they do. I've been thinking about this over the last few days because a friend compared me to another photographer, whom I've always liked...but wouldn't have seen the similarity myself. So take a few minutes to think about it and list your top 10 artistic influences and inspirations (keep in mind, they don't have to be people necessarily) mine: Herb Ritts Sante D'Orazio Patrick Demarchelier William Eggleston Duane Michals Edward Weston (photographers) Godfrey Reggio (filmmaker) Philip Glass Brian Eno (musicians/composers) Carl Sagan (physicist, author) All of these people produced work that made me look at the world a little differently, or notice something I was overlooking- Jul 03 05 06:21 pm Link Artists Kandinsky Rosenquist Alexander Liberman Photogs. OK... just to get even with you for that remark, I was gonna add Calvin's name to the list.... but sheeit!... I don't have the heart to do that to ya... not even as a joke. Jul 05 05 10:45 am Link I have always found the most important influences, are not others inages but how they treat life itself. I could list tons of people I call mentors or peers that I so enjoy, but's it's my own ideas that can realte to other things beyond just the image. To sound egotistical.....I like the influences Alex Alexander has on others around me and how we each give to the other.
